Two books by Professor Farida Safiyeva, dedicated to the history of Yerevan and the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani people in the region, have been included in the catalogue of the US Library of Congress. The inclusion was confirmed in an official letter to the author. A total of five publications associated with the two books are now listed in the Library’s catalogue.
The book “Iravan: Through the Language of Historical Documents” was published in English with financial support from the Agency for State Support to NGOs.
The book “Iravan: Echoes of History and a Lost Heritage” was published in Azerbaijani, English, French and Russian. Its publication was supported by Leyla Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
The publications explore Yerevan’s historical past through archival documents, photographs, private and family archives, and genealogical records. A particularly significant feature of the books is their presentation of previously undisclosed documents that have not been widely known or included in academic research.
These materials contribute to the documentary study of historical facts, the preservation of fading historical memory, and the transmission of the Azerbaijani people’s heritage in the region to future generations.
Presentations of “Iravan: Through the Language of Historical Documents” were held in New York on October 11 and in Washington on October 16.
The inclusion of the books in the US Library of Congress catalogue marks an important milestone in promoting the author’s research internationally. It makes information about the publications accessible to researchers, historians and readers worldwide, while raising the international profile of documentary materials on Yerevan’s history and Azerbaijani heritage.
