
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met on Thursday with the Speakers of Parliament of the member states of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA) in the capital, Astana. Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova also attended the meeting.
President Tokayev emphasized that, thanks to the joint efforts of the Parliamentary Assembly, Turkic solidarity continues to grow stronger each year. This positive trend, he noted, is enhancing the international standing and influence of the entire Turkic world. Most importantly, he said, the Turkic nations are united by a shared aspiration for closer ties.
He affirmed Kazakhstan’s interest in further deepening comprehensive cooperation among Turkic-speaking countries, adding that Kazakhstan supports the initiatives of the Parliamentary Assembly and is prepared to contribute to the broader process of Turkic integration.
President Tokayev also called for greater utilization of the Organization’s potential to achieve the shared objectives of its member states.
The Kazakh leader noted the recent decision to appoint permanent representatives to the Organization of Turkic States and pointed to growing cooperation in the areas of trade and economy, energy, finance, and investment.
