A meeting of the Commission on Combating Corruption of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held on Thursday.

Commission Chairman Samir Nuriyev outlined the key objectives set by President Ilham Aliyev in the fight against corruption. He emphasized that in 2024, respective measures have been put in place to improve public administration efficiency, strengthen transparency, and combat corruption.

Nuriyev stressed that anti-corruption efforts are crucial in consolidating the achievements of socio-economic reforms under President Ilham Aliyev's leadership. These efforts also aim to align state institutions with modern requirements and enhance public trust in government bodies. He noted that new challenges related to increasing accountability, managing state assets, and improving transparency demand a systematic and sustained approach to fighting corruption.

During the meeting, newly appointed members of the Commission, selected by the Milli Majlis, were introduced. Discussions also focused on international cooperation in anti-corruption efforts, including a review of actions taken in response to recommendations from the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO) as part of its fifth evaluation round.

A report on the impact of recent judicial and legal reforms on anti-corruption measures was presented, followed by discussions on enhancing transparency and eliminating corruption-prone practices. Participants exchanged views on identifying, analyzing, assessing, and preventing corruption risks within state institutions.

Furthermore, the Commission approved its regulations and work plan for the upcoming period.
