Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora Fuad Muradov has met with members of the Azerbaijani community living in Prague. The meeting was held as part of the "Year of Heydar Aliyev".
Members of the Azerbaijani community living in different cities of the Czech Republic, employees of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Czech Republic attended the meeting.
The event began with the National Anthem of Azerbaijan and continued with one minute silence, as a mark of respect to the dear memory of martyrs, who died for the territorial integrity of the country and the victims of the Barda terror attack.
Then the film dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founder of the modern Azerbaijan, National Leader Heydar Aliyev was presented and the video on the theme "The promise given to the people turned into reality" reflecting Azerbaijan’s glorious Victory was screened.
After welcoming the participants of the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee congratulated Azerbaijanis on the occasion of full restoration of the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity under the leadership of President, Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. He, on behalf of the World Azerbaijanis, expressed his gratitude to the head of state and heroic soldiers for raising the State Flag of Azerbaijan in Khankendi, Khojaly, Asgaran and Aghdara.
The Committee Chairman gave a brief report on the multifaced activities of the Committee, systematic projects, coordination councils, Azerbaijani houses, weekend Azerbaijani schools, Summer Camps of Diaspora Youth.
He emphasized the importance of protecting the characteristics features of Azerbaijanism ideology and national identity, and recalled the recommendations of the head of state to Azerbaijanis living abroad sounded at the 5th Congress of World Azerbaijanis. He thanked Eldar Valiyev, Leyla Begim Jafarova and Farid Amiraliyev for their active participation in the promotion of Azerbaijani truths in the Czech Republic.
Adish Mammadov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Czech Republic, has one more time recalled that series of events, held in various countries of the world, including the Czech Republic, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The ambassador highly appreciated the role of Azerbaijani diaspora in the Czech Republic and invited the compatriots to be more active in promoting the country`s culture and art abroad by taking efficient and purposeful steps.
The Azerbaijani diplomat also spoke about the reasons behind the smear campaign, being currently waged by some forces in Europe against Azerbaijan. He drew attention to the fact that the Azerbaijani Army, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, saved the world from a conflict and within the last 3 years Azerbaijan has completely rebuilt the territories destroyed by Armenians in front of the “eyes of the world”.
Diaspora representatives - Rena Abubekirova, Azerbaijani language teacher of "Buta" weekend school, Leyla Begim Jafarova, chairwoman of "Natavan" Society, member of Azerbaijan Writers Union, Poetry Society and European Writers' Congress, Farid Amiraliyev, member of "Elson Grand" organization delivered speeches at the event.
Then, Leyla Begim Jafarova and Farid Amiraliyev were elected coordinators of the Coordinating Council of Eastern European Azerbaijanis.
A proposal regarding the opening an Azerbaijan House in Prague, put forward by the community members was unanimously supported.
On behalf of the committee, letters of thanks were presented to active member of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the Czech Republic.
In the artistic part of the meeting, the songs "Azerbaijan", "Mother" and "People will say Heydar" were performed by Janel Najafli, winner of prestigious music competitions and a violinist who was nominated as "Person of the Year" in the Czech Republic for her achievements gained in 2020.
It should be noted that currently 20 Azerbaijani Houses operates in 14 countries of the world, while the number of the Coordination Councils of Azerbaijanis reached 15 and covers 36 countries.
