Sahiba Gafarova pointed out that relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are based on historical roots. She noted that friendly relations, which were founded by Great Leader Heydar Aliyev developed even more during the period of independence, and these relations are continued by the leaders of both countries. “Today, our countries are successfully cooperating in economic, political, humanitarian and other fields. Joint oil, gas and transport projects indicate a strong partnership between our countries,” Sahiba Gafarova emphasized.

Touching on the inter-parliamentary relations of the two countries, the Chairman of the Milli Majlis said that there was a very effective cooperation between the countries` legislative bodies.

Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili said he is happy to participate in the Milli Majlis special session dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev.

He emphasized that Heydar Aliyev was a valuable person not only for Azerbaijan, but also for the entire region. “The projects he launched yield positive results today,” the speaker underlined.

During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
