The consul noted the importance of the bilateral relations between the two countries, gave detailed information about the diplomatic ties established in early 1990s, the opening of the Azerbaijan’s embassy in Egypt in 1994, Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev’s historical visit to Egypt, the agreements and contracts signed between the two countries.
Informing about the tourism potential of Azerbaijan, Rahimov also touched upon the foreign policy the country pursues on international arena, its principle position in the international conflicts. Azerbaijan condemns all kinds of terrorism and fights against this evil on international level, the diplomat underlined.
Rahimov highlighted the trilateral meeting of the heads of state of Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan recently held in Baku, spoke of the “North-South” Corridor to contribute economy of the regional countries.
Speaking about the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the Azerbaijani diplomat said the relevant talks were useless so far due to the non-constructive position of the Armenian side. He, in particular, stressed that the aggressor plunders the natural resources and cultural monuments in the occupied areas of Azerbaijan.
