President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has presented the “Istiglal” Order to a participant of the World War II, Chairperson of Organization of War, Labor, and Armed Forces Veterans Fatma Sattarova on the occasion of her 100th anniversary in recognition of her long-term fruitful activity in the public life of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Expressing her gratitude to the head of state, Fatma Sattarova said: “The heroic son of Azerbaijan, the Commander-in-Chief of the Azerbaijani Army, you have liberated those mountains, our Karabakh in 44 days. It is true heroism. The people of Azerbaijan are proud of you, may Allah protect you. You have inspired the people, you have given the people faith, you have returned the country to the people, you have returned the homeland to the people, you have returned our land.”

President Ilham Aliyev: This is a victory for all of us, a victory for the people of Azerbaijan.

Fatma Sattarova: Yes, it is a victory for all of us, the people of Azerbaijan. Yes, it is a victory, this is true, we need a leader for that victory, we need a leader to win that victory.

President Ilham Aliyev: Veterans have also played a significant role in this victory. You are an example for all of us. You have shown heroism and great self-sacrifice in the second Karabakh war. You have always been active since then. I have awarded you a high order.

Fatma Sattarova: I know, thank you very much, May Allah be pleased with you.

President Ilham Aliyev: This is one of the highest orders of the Azerbaijani state, the “Istiglal” Order. You deserve it. Because you have glorified our ideal of independence with your life, your activity, your words, your resolute steps. Your work in the name of our statehood during the period of independence is very dear to us and serves as a good example.

Fatma Sattarova: Thank you very much. I am at your service.

President Ilham Aliyev: We always talked about Karabakh when we met with you and other veterans on 9 May.

Fatma Sattarova: Yes, only about Karabakh.

President Ilham Aliyev: We talked about Karabakh and I always said that one day we will liberate the lands, and the day has come.

Fatma Sattarova: Thank you. Thank you very much.
