An event marking the Victory Day and the Flag Day - the national holidays of Azerbaijan, has been held in Finland’s capital, Helsinki.
Counselors of Azerbaijani, Turkish embassies and the diplomatic mission of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Azerbaijanis, representatives of the local community and friendly communities attended the event, organized by the Azerbaijan House operating in Helsinki with the support of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Sweden.
The national anthem of Azerbaijan were sung, the dear memory of Azerbaijani martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of their country were commemorated with a minute’s silence.
Addressing the event, Head of the Azerbaijan House in Helsinki, Coordinator of the Coordination Council of Scandinavian Azerbaijanis in Finland, Сhairperson of the "Azer-Turk" Youth Organization Ulviyya Jabbarova emphasized that this holiday was for the first time being celebrated at a time when the sovereignty of Azerbaijan has been fully restored.
Counselor of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Sweden Javanshir Mammadov underlined that the foundation of the path leading to Karabakh Victory was laid by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, adding that President Ilham Aliyev brought this mission to a logical end. He described the holding of a military parade dedicated to the 3rd anniversary of the Victory Day in the central square of Khankendi as a source of pride.
Then, a documentary dedicated to the Victory and Flag Days was screened.
The event also featured performance of Azerbaijani composers’ songs by Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Rashad Ilyasov, as well as students of the Azerbaijan weekend school at the Azerbaijan House in Helsinki.
