Azerbaijani President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed ForcesIlham Aliyev attended the opening of a plant of the Defense Industry Ministry’s “Sharg” Production Unit for the production of components for 40x46 mm MSGL 40-type grenade launchers in country’s Shirvan city on June 23.

 Defense Industry Minister Yavar Jamalov informed the head of state that the main goal of the establishment of the plant is to launch a serial production of 4 types of components for 40x46 mm revolver-type grenade launchers in compliance with NATO standards. This ammunition is aimed at destroying the enemy’s living force and firing points.

After touring the enterprise, President Ilham Aliyev met with employees of the Defense Industry Ministry and a group of servicemen of the Defense Ministry.

 The president made a speech at the meeting.

 Later, Defense Industry Minister Yavar Jamalov and Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov made speeches. 

 The presidential orders on conferring higher military ranks on a group of servicemen of the Defense Ministry were read out. 

 President Ilham Aliyev presented to the awarded servicemen the certificates of higher military ranks and the Order "For Service to Motherland" of the 3rd degree  (en.apa.a)
