Azerbaijan`s famous poet, member of the Advisory Council of the World Young Turkish Writers Union, Rasmiyya Sabir, has represented the country in the 10th International Istanbulensis Poetry Festival held in Istanbul, Türkiye.
The International Istanbulensis Poetry Festival, organized by Sultanbeyli Municipality, brought together poets from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Tunisia, Iran, Syria, Palestine, Senegal, Mauritania, Jordan, Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries.
In his opening remark, Sultanbeyli Mayor Hüseyin Keskin highlighted the importance of the festival, informing the event participants about the cultural activities.
As part of the festival, the poets met with schoolchildren in various Turkish schools, to whom they read their poems and answered the questions about literature. Rasmiyya Sabir gave the students detailed information about Azerbaijani poets, various literary associations, and literary magazines published in Azerbaijan.
The festival bears the name of the Istanbulensis flower that grows only in the Aydos Forestry area within the borders of the Sultanbeyli neighbourhood. The flower was introduced to the world in 1982 by British scientist Brian Mathew.
