“An illegal resettlement policy pursued by Armenia in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan for malicious purposes is unacceptable,” political analyst, professor at Helwan University in Egypt Adel Darwish said in his interview with AZERTAC.
The Egyptian political analyst said that it was a well-known fact that Armenia is trying to resettle the Armenian population from Lebanon and Syria, as well as from other countries of the Middle East in the occupied Azerbaijani lands.
“The policy of illegal resettlement in Nagorno-Karabakh and surrounding areas which was also conducted in previous years, contradicts the norms of international law. Such actions of the aggressor country were also mentioned in the reports by the fact-finding missions of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). At the same time, these illegal actions of Armenia are a gross violation of the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols,” professor Darwish said.
Adel Darwish expressed his hope that international organizations, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which always supports the territorial integrity and sovereign rights of Azerbaijan, would give appropriate assessment to these illegal actions of Armenia.
